There’s a secret about me that’s hidden – not very deeply – under my surface. All it takes to learn about my secret is for someone to ask me to turn on the music. Then, anyone in a five-mile radius will suddenly know that JESSA LOVES COUNTRY MUSIC!!!!!!

Every so often friends who are able to talk over the music will say something like, “I just don’t like country music that much.”

To that, I say, “You’re obviously listening to the wrong country music.” And then I show them the right kind.

So, I decided to share six of my country music favorites with ya’ll. Hopefully, you’ll be a country-music-convert after listening to a few of these.

 

Simple (Florida Georgia Line)

This one might be my favorite, and I need to give a big thanks to the little boy I babysit. He’s the one who played the song for me the first time . . . and the second, third, fourth, fifth, and ninety-seventh time (all on the same day.) It’s really amazing that I still like it after hearing it so many times, but it’s one of those songs that you just keep lovin’.

 

Friends (Blake Shelton)

Blake Shelton songs are found scattered throughout my playlist. This is definitely one of my favorites he’s done.

 

I Don’t Dance (Lee Brice)

This one is one of the first country songs that I heard and thought, “Whoa! Country music might be kinda great!”

 

Burning Man (Dierks Bentley)

I always want to run when I hear this song – but in a good way — not a oh-dang-this-song-is-terrible of way. For some reason, this song is inspiring to me and makes me want to do something kinda heroic.

 

Chicken Fried (Zach Brown Band)

This song definitely brings out my southern side! It’s a song that’s been on my playlist for years and I don’t have any plans of taking it off.

 

What Ifs (Kane Brown)

Kane Brown is another of my go-to country artists. This song will always make me think of my older brother. For some reason, when this song starts playing, he always rolls down the car window and belts the entire song out.
